The writing-off or writing-down of bad debts by creditors and the unilateral cancellation of a liability by a debtor (debt repudiation) are not classified as financial transactions because they do not involve interactions between institutional units, or between institutional units and the rest of the world, by mutual agreement.
La réduction ou l'abandon unilatéral d'une créance irrécouvrable par un créancier ainsi que l'annulation unilatérale d'une créance par un débiteur (répudiation d'une dette) ne sont pas considérés comme des opérations financières parce que ne résultant pas d'une action réciproque convenue d'un commun accord entre des unités institutionnelles ou entre une unité institutionnelle et le reste du monde.
