The impression I get is that the Council is under the thumb of officials in the Commission – officials who themselves always want to make more policy, officials with legitimacy conferred on them by nothing and nobody, but whom the public pays well; not controlled by the public, but paid well by them, and it is the public who, at the end of the day, must pick up the tab.
J’ai l’impression que le Conseil est sous la coupe de fonctionnaires de la Commission - des fonctionnaires voulant créer toujours plus de politiques, des fonctionnaires dont la légitimité ne repose sur rien ni personne mais que la population paie bien; qui ne sont pas contrôlés par celle-ci mais bien payés par elle, et c’est la population qui, au bout du compte, reçoit la facture.
