We socialists have tabled two amendments, to which I should like to ask the rapporteur to give her express support, on the social aspects of the processing industry, urging the Commission, the Member States and social operators to boost the collective negotiation designed to improve the quality of employment in this industry, especially bearing in mind that the majority of these jobs are performed by women, who have very little social protection and who, furthermore, commonly work on a highly casual basis.
Les socialistes ont présenté deux amendements pour lesquels je demanderais le soutien formel du rapporteur : ils ont trait aux aspects sociaux de l’industrie de la transformation ; ils prient instamment la Commission, les États membres et les agents sociaux d’encourager une négociation collective qui viserait à l’amélioration de la qualité de l’emploi dans cette industrie, sans oublier, en outre, que la majorité de ces postes de travail sont occupés par des femmes, auxquelles ils offrent très peu de couverture sociale, et qui, en plus, sont très précaires.
