Charles Grassley and Max Baucus initiated an investigation in March or May of 2012, intending to uncover exactly how much money exchanged hands among Purdue, Endo, Cephalon and other companies in the States that make these drugs and where that money went, going back more than 10 years to not just key opinion leaders who helped promote the use of these drugs but to special interest groups, pain foundations, patient groups, the American Geriatrics Society and so on.
