The work carried out in the productive sectors has helped boost productivity and has brought supply into line with outlets both locally and on export markets; this is particularly true of agriculture and agri-foodstuffs, where considerable sums of money have been spent on modernising traditional industries (bananas, sugar cane, sugar and rum), both to keep them in existence and to achieve the diversification which helps improve the self-sufficiency of the local market.
