Mr. Réal Ménard (Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, BQ): Mr. Speaker, on a biographical note, I would like to remind the minister that, in 1993, he voted for an amendment regarding preventative withdrawal tabled by the Bloc Quebecois, and I ask him this: Will he undertake to make the necessary changes to the Canada Labour Code so that agreements can be entered into with the provincial governments, that would include compensation plans for the reassignment or preventative withdrawal of pregnant or breastfeeding workers, where such plans exist?

Réal Ménard (Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, BQ): Monsieur le Président, je voudrais rappeler au ministre, à titre biographique, qu'il a déjà voté en faveur d'un amendement concernant le retrait préventif, en 1993, déposé par le Bloc, et je lui demande s'il peut s'engager à apporter les changements nécessaires au Code canadien du travail pour permettre la conclusion d'ententes avec les gouvernements provinciaux, en vue de l'incorporation de régimes d'indemnisation pour la réaffectation ou le retrait préventif des femmes enceintes ou qui allaitent, là où de tels régimes existent.
