It is very easy to criticise other parts of the world; it is more difficult, and to our credit, that we are prepared to look within the European Union, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the governments working together to make a more democratic institution – not by any stretch of the imagination a super-state that needs to be feared, as we might read in the papers.
Il est très simple de critiquer d’autres parties du monde; il est plus compliqué, et c’est tout à notre honneur, que nous soyons disposés à faire l’introspection de l’Union européenne, le Parlement européen, la Commission européenne et les gouvernements travaillant de concert pour créer une institution plus démocratique - et non, en faisant un effort d’imagination, un super-État qui doit être craint, comme nous pouvons le lire dans les journaux.
