If the intention is now to tell the new EU Member States that there will not be enough money for them to achieve their fundamental goals, even though the aim of these goals is to promote what could be termed a natural impulse of the European Community, and if such incidents, which ruin the reputation of leading EU politicians, are accompanied by cuts to funding for the new EU Member States, we must realise that this impulse of the European Community, which also goes by the name of solidarity, will be weakened rather than strengthened.
Si l’étape suivante consiste à dire aux nouveaux États membres qu’il manque de moyens financiers pour la poursuite de leurs objectifs fondamentaux, alors que l’essence de ceux-ci est de promouvoir ce que l’on pourrait qualifier d’impulsion naturelle de la Communauté européenne, et si de tels incidents, qui ternissent la réputation d’éminents décideurs européens, s’accompagnent de coupes sombres dans les fonds alloués aux nouveaux États membres de l’UE, cet élan de la Communauté européenne, également connu sous le nom de solidarité, loin de gagner en puissance, perdra à coup sûr de sa vigueur.
