Dr. Juurlink: I think it's true that antibiotics are overprescribed, and the usual sequence of events is the patients in the office, they have what they think is something that warrants an antibiotic, it's a viral infection, and it absolutely does not warrant an antibiotic; and a good doctor will spend the time to tell the patient you don't need this.
