The EU recalls the Resolution on the Situation of Human Rights in Cuba, adopted by the UN Commission on Human Rights on 15 April 2004, which “deplores the events which occurred last year in Cuba involving verdicts against certain political dissidents and journalists”, a reference to the trials and sentencing of 75 dissidents in March and April 2003.

A number of foundations and agencies - the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, the newly created European Agency for Fundamental Rights and the European Institute for Gender Equality will increasingly contribute to inform decision-making and raise awareness.

12. The Directors of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, the Centre for the Development of Vocational Training and of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights may as appropriate be invited to attend meetings of the Management Board as observers in order to coordinate the respective working programmes as regards gender mainstreaming.
