Monsieur le Président, je suis heureux d'intervenir aujourd'hui à propos du projet de loi S-9, Loi sur le terrorisme nucléaire, qui modifie le Code criminel pour donner suite aux obligations du Canada conformément à la Convention internationale pour la répression des actes de terrorisme nucléaire, que j'appellerai « convention pour la répression », et l’Amendement à la Convention sur la protection physique des matières nucléaires, que j'appellerai « amendement ».
Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise to speak to Bill S-9, the nuclear terrorism act, which would amend the Criminal Code to implement Canada's obligations pursuant to the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, which I will refer to as the “suppression convention”, and the Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, which I will refer to as the “amendment”.
