Comme nous le savons, l’objectif des négociations de l’OMC était d’améliorer la situation des pays en développement et chacune des parties impliquées devait y mettre du sien: l’Europe en ce qui concerne le régime tarifaire appliqué aux importations des produits agricoles, les États-Unis sous la forme d’un soutien interne aux agriculteurs, les pays en développement, comme le Brésil et l’Inde, en matière d’accès des produits industriels à leurs marchés, etc.
The objective of the WTO negotiations, as we know, was to improve the position of the developing countries, and all those involved had to do their bit: Europe in the area of import tariffs for agricultural products, the United States in the shape of internal support to farmers, developing countries, such as Brazil and India, with regard to access to their markets for industrial products, and suchlike.
