La construction d'une Europe démocratique crédible exige une plus grande implication des citoyens, des régions, des petits États membres autant que des grands, une plus grande promptitude dans ses décisions de la part de la Commission et un renforcement du rôle du Parlement, mais aussi et surtout une volonté du Conseil d'intervenir en tant qu'Union, ce que nous n'avons pas fait au Moyen-Orient, par exemple.
The development of a credible and democratic Europe requires more involvement from the citizens, the regions, the small and large Member States, more decisiveness on the part of the Commission and a reinforcement of the role of Parliament, but especially the will of the Commission to play its role on behalf of the Union, and this is what we failed to do in the Middle East, for example.
