Urges the Council and Commission to step up cooperation between the EU and Latin America by means of a stronger economic commitment on the part of the EU to existing economic groupings such as Mercosur or the Andean Group, to ensure that the EU does not become increasingly marginalised as an economic partner in Latin America as a result of the USA’s ‘Initiative for the Americas’;
