Compte tenu de l’importance des investissements dans la recherche en matière de défense, du niveau des budgets nationaux existants pour la recherche en matière de défense et du coût élevé du développement de technologies de pointe, un tel «volet» peut nécessiter un budget annuel estimé à 500 millions d’euros pour avoir une incidence sensible, conformément aux conclusions du groupe de personnalités sur la recherche en matière de défense européenne ainsi qu’au récent rapport du Parlement européen sur cette question.
Given the importance of defence research investment, the scale of existing national defence research budgets and the high costs of developing cutting-edge defence technologies, such a "window" may need an estimated annual budget of EUR 500 million in order to make a substantial difference in line with the conclusions of the Group of Personalities on European defence research, as well as with the recent report of the European Parliament on this matter.
