Back in 1999, Susan Wayland, Acting Assistant Administrator of the EPA Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances wrote a letter stating that of the 120 conventional active ingredients that the U.S. EPA evaluated under the act between 1996 and 1999, the agency retained the children's 10-fold safety factor for only 15 substances. That is 12.5 per cent.
