As an example of work in the first of these areas, advantage was taken of Europe's strong position in Logic programming languages by producing state-of-the art versions of such languages to be used in knowledge based systems which is illustrated by the following examples which relate especially to the language Prolog: As a direct result of an ESPRIT project the Belgian Institute of Management has recently released BIM-Prolog, a computer based Prolog development system with a compiler producing code which executes faster than code produced by any other Prolog compiler in the world.
Comme exemple de travaux dans le premier de ces domaines, la forte position de l'Europe dans le secteur des langages de programmation logique a ete mise a profit pour produire des versions de ces langages, correspondant a l'etat de l'art, afin de les utiliser dans les systemes cognitifs. Ainsi, comme resultat immediat d'un projet ESPRIT, l'institut belge de gestion a recemment mis sur le marche un PROLOG BIM, systeme de developpement PROLOG a compilateur qui produit un code objets qui s'execute plus rapidement que le code objets produit par n'importe quel autre compilateur PROLOG disponible sur le marche mondial.
