In order to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of forests and to promote their ecological, protective and recreational function the Commission will declare State aid up to 100 % compatible with Article 87(3)(c) of the Treaty for the following eligible costs where the Member State can demonstrate that these measures are directly contributing to maintaining or restoring ecological, protective and recreational functions of forests, biodiversity and a healthy forest ecosystem:
