In these early months of our mandate, we have brought a new human security agenda to the deliberations of the Security Council; a human security agenda which is a road map to a new century; a road map to a global society in which the safety and well-being of the individual is an international priority; a road map for an international society in which humanitarian standards and the rule of law are the twin engines of a new and better world.
Dès le début de notre mandat, nous avons apporté avec nous, au Conseil de sécurité, un nouveau programme en matière de sécurité humaine; un programme qui servira de carte routière pour le nouveau siècle, pour la société mondiale dans laquelle la sécurité et le bien-être de l'individu sont des priorités internationales; une carte mondiale pour une société internationale où les normes humanitaires et la suprématie du droit sont les deux moteurs d'un monde nouveau et meilleur.
