I cannot on the one hand stand up – obviously as President of the Commission – and make sure that nothing, not an iota of the core text of those guidelines is changed, while at the same time hoping that people in the Member States of the European Union, the employers, the employees, those who play their part in the economic process, feel that they are seeing political governance here.
Je ne peux pas d’un côté prendre parti – évidemment en tant que Président de la Commission – et m’assurer que rien, pas même un iota du texte principal de ces lignes directrices ne changent, tout en espérant, de l’autre, que les gens dans les États membres, les employeurs, les salariés, tous ceux qui jouent un rôle dans le processus économique, voient une gouvernance politique là-dedans.
