Just as the Cotonou Agreement incorporates the rules of economic and international financial institutions, in the interests of consistency and compatibility it must take account of the objectives and mechanisms of international environment conventions (the Convention on Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol, the Biodiversity Convention, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer).
De même que l'accord de Cotonou intègre en son sein les règles des institutions économiques et financières internationales, dans un souci de cohérence et de compatibilité, il doit prendre en compte les objectifs et les mécanismes les Conventions internationales, en matière d'environnement notamment (Convention sur les Changements climatiques et Protocole de Kyoto, Convention sur la biodiversité, Convention de Montréal sur l'ozone).
