The German Federal Office for military technology and public contracts regularly awards supply contracts for the purchase of rubber protection pads designed to reduce the noise produced by tracked military vehicles (e.g. tanks) and to prevent damage to roads to a group of suppliers without an invitation to tender at Community level by means of publication of a notice in the Official Journal of the European Communities.
