The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Commission of the European Community, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW) in Japan, and the Program for Alternative Fluorocarbon Toxicity Testing (PAFT), an international consortium of producer companies, today announced their common understanding on the testing needed to assess the safety of an important class of chemicals being developed as substitutes for chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
