Our activities across Canada may be broadly grouped into the following categories, although there's considerable spillover from one category to another: learning how to culture the new candidate finfish and shellfish species in captivity—for example, sablefish, halibut or flounder; improving the performance of the traditional species, such as salmon, mussels and oysters; fish and shellfish health research; and administering the fish health protection regulations.
