Commissioner Dimas tried – and rightly – to lay down binding targets for CO2 reduction, and at a level that the motor industry had voluntarily announced, only to see this proper attempt torpedoed by Germany, and not with the thought in its mind of doing something about climate change or the future of the motor industry, but simply and solely with the thought of protecting that small subdivision of it – the one concerned with the production of big luxury cars, a business that goes on in Germany, and so, suddenly, they care less about climate change and only about Porsche!
Le commissaire Dimas a tenté - à juste titre - de fixer des objectifs contraignants en matière de réduction de CO2, et ce à un niveau que l’industrie automobile avait annoncé d’elle-même, pour ensuite voir cette tentative louable torpillée par l’Allemagne, sans égard aucun pour la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique ni l’avenir de l’industrie automobile, mais dans le but unique de protéger un petit segment de cette dernière, celui de la production des grandes voitures de luxe, une activité bien vivante en Allemagne. Plus question du changement climatique, voici soudain que seul Porsche compte!
