Specifically, the bill repeals section 174 of the Act, which directs how certain sections – which Bill C-22 also repeals – of the Canada–Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador Additional Fiscal Equalization Offset Payments Act were to be read for the fiscal year that began on 1 April 2007 or 2008, depending on an election that was available to the provinces under section 3.7(1) of the Federal–Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act132 at that time.
En particulier, il abroge l’article 174 de cette loi, qui précise comment devaient être interprétés certains articles (lesquels sont abrogés par le projet de loi) de la Loi sur l’Accord avec T. N. et de la Loi sur les paiements de péréquation compensatoires supplémentaires à la Nouvelle-Écosse et à Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador au cours de l’exercice débutant le 1 avril 2007 ou 2008, selon le choix fait à ce moment par les provinces confor-mément au paragraphe 3.7(1) de la Loi sur les arrangements fiscaux entre le gouvernement fédéral et les provinces132.
