I would also like to appeal to the Government of Canada to consider stepping in where the U.S. government has stopped support for the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center and to consider, through its support for the documentation of these abuses, holding these individuals accountable, to send a clear message that this government and these people will continue to persist in their principled approach, even if momentarily the mood is one of appeasement.
Je voudrais aussi en appeler au gouvernement du Canada pour qu'il envisage de prendre le relais du gouvernement des États-Unis qui a coupé les fonds au Centre de documentation sur les droits de la personne en Iran et qu'il envisage, en appuyant la documentation de ces abus, d'obliger ces gens-là à rendre des comptes, d'envoyer le message clair que notre gouvernement continuera sans relâche d'appliquer cette approche fondée sur des principes, même si, momentanément, l'humeur est à la conciliation.
