- ASEAN CONFERENCE The Presidency briefed the Council on the progress of work in preparation for the forthcoming meetings with the ASEAN countries, i.e. the post- ministerial Conference in Bangkok from 26 to 28 July and the 11th ministerial meeting in Karlsruhe on 22 and 23 September.

The ASEAN post-ministerial conference will be held in Bangkok from 7 to 9 July.

The "Post-Ministerial" Conference between the Asean countries and their main partners (the Community, the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) will be held in Singapore from 18 to 20 June.

The Commission delegation to the meeting is led by Commissioner Abel Matutes, responsible for relations with Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean, who is making his third visit to the ASEAN region following his participation at the Post Ministerial Conference in Brunei (July 1989) and his recent bilateral visits to Thailand and the Philippines (January 1990).
