It is customary each year towards the end of September, shortly before the start of the beet-harvesting season in northern Europe, for the Commission, in agreement with the experts on the Management Committee for Sugar and the European producers (manufacturers and beet-growers), to make a preliminary estimate of sugar production and a supply forecast for the Community.
Traditionnellement chaque année vers la fin du mois de septembre, peu avant le début de la campagne d'arrachage des betteraves dans l'Europe du Nord, la Commission, en accord avec les experts du Comité de Gestion du sucre et avec les producteurs européens (fabricants et betteraviers), établit une première estimation de la production de sucre et un bilan d'approvisionnement prévisionnel de la Communauté.
