Advanced materials will be a key factor in the further technological development of the European Community. Materials science and engineering are advancing rapidly. L'Europe doit être à la pointe du progrès dans ce domaine si elle veut rester compétitive dans des secteurs aussi divers que les transports, l'électronique, le secteur biomédical, etc..
