For fifteen years, the states have shrunk back from the abrogation of sovereignty that the transfer of such rights to the European Union represents, and I can understand why they do, for it involves, to a degree, the surrender of national power, but this surrender of a bit of power must be weighed against the prospect of migration, people-trafficking, uncontrolled immigration and the problems associated with them being allowed to drag on even longer.
Depuis quinze ans, les États se dérobent devant l’abrogation de souveraineté que le transfert de ces droits à l’Union européenne représente, et je peux comprendre pourquoi, car cela implique, dans une certaine mesure, un abandon de pouvoir national, mais cet abandon d’une partie du pouvoir doit être mis en balance avec la perspective d’une migration, d’un trafic d’êtres humains, d’une immigration non contrôlée et des problèmes qui y sont associés se poursuivant encore plus longtemps.
