The Union supports the statements made, inter alia, by President Yeltsin and the Douma and appeals to the Chechen authorities, and in particular to President Maskhadov, to comply with the moratorium on the application of the death penalty decreed in the Russian Federation when it joined the Council of Europe and to ensure that no other execution takes place.
L'Union soutient les déclarations faites, entre autres, par le président Yeltsin et la Douma et fait appel aux autorités tchétchènes, et en particulier au président Maskhadov, de respecter le moratoire sur l'application de la peine de mort décrété dans la Fédération de Russie lors de l'adhésion au Conseil de l'Europe et de faire en sorte qu'aucune autre exécution n'ait lieu.
