– (DE) Mr President, Commissioner, our committee has put down this oral question because our members, the public and the staff of the European Info-Points have learned that the Commission wrote to the Info-Points in September 2003, informing them that, with effect from 1 January 2004, the beginning of the election year, financial support for these information agencies, which are of such great importance to the public, was to be curtailed.
- (DE) Monsieur le Président, Monsieur le Commissaire, notre commission a déposé cette question orale car nos députés, le public et le personnel des Info-Points Europe ont appris que la Commission a annoncé, dans une lettre rédigée en septembre 2003, que le soutien financier à ces organes d’information si essentiels pour le public serait retiré à dater du 1er janvier 2004, soit au début de cette année électorale.
