When we talk about a unified Europe in an economic and financial sense, this unification must clearly be carried out on the basis of honesty and transparency, because no other method is acceptable, and the regulation – which I hope will be approved – has precisely the virtue of eliminating those practices, which unfortunately are very wide-spread in certain Member States, which tend to disguise – so to speak – situations of deficit, by using various different accounting methods.
Si l'on parle d'une Europe unifiée en matières économiques et financières, cette unification doit, de toute évidence, être basée sur la loyauté et la transparence car il ne peut en être autrement et le règlement - qui sera approuvé je l'espère - a l'avantage précisément d'éliminer ces pratiques, malheureusement très répandues dans certains États membres, qui tendent à dissimuler - passez-moi l'expression - des situations de déficit par le recours à diverses méthodes de comptabilisation.
