You see, I do not believe that it is right, even in such situations, to attribute liability to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for certain bankruptcies; I am thinking about the Argentinian affair, where it is ever clearer that the failure, the decline of the State itself, is not to be attributed to the Monetary Fund or the World Bank but to the level of corruption and the level of statism present in that economy.
Voyez-vous, je ne pense pas qu’il soit juste, même dans de telles circonstances, d’attribuer au Fonds monétaire international et à la Banque mondiale la responsabilité de certaines ruines; je pense à l’affaire argentine, où il devient de plus en plus évident que l’échec, le déclin de l’État lui-même, n’est pas imputable au Fonds monétaire ni à la Banque mondiale, mais bien au niveau de corruption et au niveau d’étatisme qui gangrènent cette économie.
