[67] Directive 95/47/EC mandated inter alia the use of the Common Scrambling Algorithm administered by ETSI (this algorithm specifies how the decryption engine of the set-top box deciphers the protected broadcast), the possibility to receive free-to-air transmissions and the DVB Common Interface connector (this is a standardised interface between an interchangeable plug-in conditional access module and the set-top box, permitting several different conditional access technologies to be used on the same box).
[67] La directive 95/47/CE prévoyait, entre autres, l'utilisation de l'algorithme commun d'embrouillage géré par l'ETSI (cet algorithme spécifie comment le dispositif de déchiffrement du décodeur déchiffre la diffusion protégée), la possibilité de capter des transmissions en clair ainsi que le connecteur d'interface commune DVB (il s'agit d'une interface standardisée entre un module d'accès conditionnel enfichable et interchangeable et le décodeur, ce qui permet d'utiliser dans le même décodeur plusieurs techniques d'accès conditionnel différentes).
