Speaking to the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Mr Van Miert, Member of the Commission with special responsibility for competition policy, outlined the present context of that policy: the internal market, the globalization of international markets, the economic crisis and technological developments - all to be seen in the light of the ratification of the Maastricht Treaty and the requirements for subsidiarity and transparency.
S'adressant à la Commission des affaires économiques et monétaires du Parlement européen, M. Van Miert, membre de la Commission responsable de la politique de concurrence, a dégagé les grandes lignes du contexte dans lequel s'exerce actuellement la politique de concurrence, à savoir : le marché intérieur, la globalisation des marchés, la crise économique et le développement technologique en se plaçant dans la perspective de la ratification du traité de Maastricht et des considérations sur la subsidiarité et sur la transparence.
