The Union considers that the decision of the Samoan Parliament represents a fundamental advance in the promotion of human rights in Samoa and an important contribution towards the Universal abolition of the death penalty and is, as announced by the Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, "further evidence of Samoa's recognition of its international and regional obligations, and how serious it takes such obligations".
L'Union considère que la décision du parlement samoan représente un progrès fondamental dans la promotion des droits de l'homme au Samoa et constitue une contribution importante à l'abolition universelle de la peine de mort ainsi que, comme l'a déclaré le premier ministre du Samoa, Son Excellence M. Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, "une nouvelle preuve que Samoa est conscient de ses obligations internationales et régionales et y attache toute l'importance qu'elles méritent"
