As a matter of fact, since the beginning of this century, the federal government has passed the following acts concerning health: in 1919, the government established its own health department and gave its first grants: in 1948, the government launched a national health grants program; in 1957, it enacted the Hospital Insurance Act; in 1966, it enacted the Medical Care Act, and in 1984, the Canada Health Act which sets out the federal principles of the Canadian health system.
En effet, depuis le début du siècle, le gouvernement fédéral a adopté les législations suivantes en matière de santé: en 1919, le gouvernement fédéral crée son ministère de la Santé et octroie ses premières subventions; en 1948, il instaure un Programme national de subventions à la santé; en 1957, il adopte la Loi fédérale sur l'assurance-hospitalisation; en 1966, il adopte la Loi sur les soins médicaux; en 1984, il adopte la Loi canadienne sur la santé qui établit les principes fédéraux du système de santé canadien.
