As regards the proposal to make an unscheduled deduction in the aid for the calendar year 2008, and bearing in mind that the tobacco cultivation contracts for the 2008 harvest year are currently being concluded and even – in the case of some Member States – were concluded some time ago (including notification of the level of premiums for the 2008 harvest), Parliament considers that approving that proposal could give rise to a plethora of legal actions or, at any event, to a dispute which would ultimately cause grave prejudice to farmers alone.
