Je me demande s'il ne serait pas utile que le comité envisage de tenir des audiences au Cap-Breton ou à Halifax, ou dans les deux endroits, pour étudier la question du méthane de la couche de houille et souligner, par ces audiences, le potentiel que présente l'exploitation de cette source de gaz naturel. Le comité pourrait se demander si les projets dont il est question créent de l'emploi pour les gens de l'endroit et si la région en tirera tous les avantages industriels possibles.
I wonder if it would not be worthwhile for the committee to consider holding hearings either in Cape Breton or in Halifax, or both, to examine the questions of coal-bed methane and, through the process of the hearings, to provide more publicity to the opportunities there and also to focus on the question of whether the projects going ahead are in fact employing people from the region and whether they are getting the optimum industrial benefits from this sort of development.
