La mutagénicité est évaluée selon les lignes directrices intitulées « OECD Guidelines on Genetic Toxicology Testing and Guidance on the Selection and Application of Assays » et publiées par l’OCDE le 15 mai 1986 qui comprennent les essais ci-après visés aux alinéas a) à c) ainsi que selon le niveau de préoccupation élevé (NDP III) des « Lignes directrices sur l’utilisation des tests de mutagénicité pour l’évaluation toxicologique des produits chimiques » publiées en 1986 par le ministère de la Santé nationale et du Bien-être social et le ministère de l’Environnement conformément aux essais ci-après visés à l’alinéa d) :

Mutagenicity must be assessed in accordance with the “OECD Guidelines on Genetic Toxicology Testing and Guidance on the Selection and Application of Assays”, published May 15, 1986 by OECD, which include the tests referred to in paragraphs (a) to (c), as well as in accordance with the third level of concern (LOC III) of the federal “Guidelines on the Use of Mutagenicity Tests in the Toxicological Evaluation of Chemicals”, published by Health and Welfare Canada and Environment Canada in 1986, in regard to the tests referred to in paragraph (d):
