The report also welcomes the establishment of the EU Reference Laboratory. The Reference Laboratory should complement the activities of existing expert networks or national laboratories and should use the data and experiences collected in the COST Action COLOSS.

Each year, the Member States forward to the Commission and to a Committee set up by the Directive a report listing the laboratories inspected, the date of the inspection and the conclusions of the inspection.

– (EL) As you perhaps know, doping substances are traded on the free market so quickly that often, when one substance is detected and banned, a new one has already appeared. The reasons for this are purely bureaucratic, for the simple reason that there are not enough laboratories.

In his report, Mr Seppänen made references to other fundings: the Turkish case is the most obvious, coming from the 2000 contributions.
