Le Conseil énonce quatre objectifs : élaborer une vision canadienne d’une infostructure de la santé et déterminer les besoins essentiels auxquels elle devrait répondre; établir un plan d’action fédéral pour la mise en place des composantes essentielles de l’infostructure; proposer des mécanismes de collaboration afin de parvenir à un consensus national pour la création d’une infostructure de la santé intégrée; cerner les problèmes à résoudre, les défis à relever et les obstacles à surmonter pour garantir l’utilisation efficace de la technologie de l’information et de la communication, en vue de recommander des solutions.
