The seventh member would seem appropriate to give special support to the chamber presided over by the president of the Community Patent Court who will also have to perform other tasks relating for example to the administration and representation of the Community Patent Court.

Madam Justice Johanne Mainville of the Quebec Superior Court and Mr. Justice Patrick Smith of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario will form part of the tribunal, along with Mr. Justice Harry Slade of the British Columbia Supreme Court, who has been named Tribunal Chair.

Obviously, close collaboration between the chair of the specific claims tribunal and the chief justices of the affected courts will be necessary to determine the most effective and efficient assignment of cases to the tribunal members.
