Comme le Comité de la Chambre des communes l’a proposé en juin 2002, la gestion axée sur la conservation signifierait que le Canada ferait respecter la surveillance des activités de pêche jusqu’à la frontière de la plate-forme continentale : « Le Canada effectuerait la recherche scientifique, fixerait les TPA, et mettrait sur pied et administrerait un système de gestion basée sur la conservation qui comprendrait la surveillance et la mise en application ».
As proposed by the Commons Committee in June 2002, custodial management would involve Canada’s asserting control of fishing activity out to the limits of the continental shelf: “Canada would conduct the science, set the TACs, and implement and administer a conservation-based management system that would include monitoring and enforcement”.
