Key issues to be addressed include the implications of the TRIPs Agreement for developing countries, enforcement challenges, the interplay between intellectual property and human rights, the relationship between intellectual property and the public domain, issues linked to sustainable development, transfer of technology and research and development.

The seminar brings together non-governmental organizations, academics and trade experts to discuss intellectual property issues of current concern in less developed countries. These included access to technology in developing countries, access to medicines, the impact of the TRIPs agreement on access to seeds, and prospects for future negotiations on intellectual property rights from the point of view of developing countries.
