Toutes ces questions ont conduit à l’introduction de ce domaine dans le traité d’Amsterdam, et à une situation qui peu à peu a conféré à l’Union européenne - à la Communauté européenne, pour être précis - ces compétences, qui ont rendu possible l’élaboration d’un grand nombre de textes législatifs ou l’incorporation de certains instruments au sein de la législation européenne, alors qu’ils n’en faisaient précédemment pas partie, même s’ils relevaient, dans une certaine mesure, de la sphère communautaire, comme la convention de Bruxelles et autres.
All of that is what led this field to be introduced in the Treaty of Amsterdam, allowing a situation to evolve that has given the European Union – the European Community, to be precise – these competences, which have made it possible to draw up a large amount of legislation or to turn instruments into European legislation that were not previously part of it, though they did to a certain extent fall within the Community sphere, such as the Brussels Convention and others.
