R. whereas the Egyptian Armed Forces issued a statement on 1 July 2013 giving Egyptian political forces 48 hours to ‘fulfil the people’s demands’, otherwise the military would step in; whereas, in its statement of 4 July 2013, the Egyptian Army deposed President Mohamed Morsi and announced the suspension of the constitution, the transfer of power to the head of the High Constitutional Court pending early presidential elections followed by parliamentary elections, and the formation of a national coalition government and a committee to look into amending the constitution;
