"Nous prenons acte du rapport du Groupe d'étude commun au PNUE et au CNUEH (Habitat) sur les Balkans et, nous référant aux. conclusions du Conseil du 24 juin 1999, soulignons l'importance qu'il convient d'accorder au nettoyage et à la réhabilitation des sites où les conflits ont provoqué les dommages écologiques les plus importants et où la santé humaine est directement mise en péril, notamment en raison des graves répercussions que la pollution du Danube pourrait avoir pour l'environnement de la région.
"We took note of the report by the UNEP/UNCHS (Habitat) Balkans Task Force. With reference to the Council conclusions of 24 June 1999, it emphasised the importance of the clean-up and re-mediation of the identified environmental hotspots caused by the conflict, now posing direct risk for human health and, in particular, the danger of severe regional impacts on the environment through the Danube.
